What the Research Shows
Aesthetic medicine attracts the loosest claims in this entire industry, which is why the hair research is refreshing: it counts hairs and measures shaft thickness under blinded conditions.
A randomized, double-blind, vehicle-controlled trial in Stem Cells Translational Medicine (2020) tested a topical adipose-derived stem cell constituent extract in androgenetic alopecia, registered at ClinicalTrials.gov as NCT02594046. At 16 weeks, hair count had increased 28.1% in the treatment group versus 7.1% with vehicle, and hair diameter improved 14.2% versus 6.3%, with adequate safety maintained.
Zooming out, a 2024 systematic review in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Global Open pooled 12 randomized controlled trials covering 514 participants across cells and derivatives from adipose tissue, hair follicles, bone marrow, and other sources, and concluded these approaches can promote hair regeneration and density. A 2023 systematic review in Cells independently catalogued the randomized evidence, including the vehicle-controlled trial above.
The Honest Line
Three limits, stated in the same font as the findings. First, much of this research studies cell derivatives, extracts and conditioned media rather than living cell transplants, and results from one do not automatically speak for the other, so ask precisely what is in the syringe. Second, the 2024 review's own conclusion is that outcomes may be temporary in some cases: follicles remain under the same hormonal pressure after treatment as before it, and several included trials had short follow-up. Third, established medications have decades of evidence, and the best trials studied cell-derived approaches alongside them, not instead of them. No study shows a guarantee it works every time, or that it will work for you, and none of this applies to scarred follicles, which are gone.

The type and stage of your hair loss decide everything: this research lives in pattern loss with living, miniaturized follicles, and shedding driven by thyroid, iron, or a scarring process is a different problem that examination and labs catch first. Every trial above produced its results in selected patients who met specific criteria. That is the gap between "documented in research" and "right for you," and it is the gap a candidacy review exists to close. Before anything is recommended, your bloodwork, biomarkers, imaging, and history are reviewed by a physician panel to establish whether you are actually in the population the research describes. If the picture supports moving forward, you will know exactly why. If it does not, you will be told that, plainly. That is where to start.

What stage of loss did the trial patients have? How long did results last, and what maintenance is expected? What would make me a poor candidate?
